This is one of my favorite quotes about sexualization/objectification vs autonomy of female bodies bc it’s so succinct
Sunset in Texas, sunrise is Colorado! Arriving at 7am, it took us 16 hours to get here. We battled the elements driving over 100 miles in a snow storm and both of the drivers were running on very little sleep. By the time we got to Gunnison they had both stayed up for an entire 24 hours. We got all settled into our friend Matt’s town home, ate breakfast then the six of us passed out. I woke up at noon and started crocheting a scarf in the living room, getting to know Matt’s roommates while everyone else slept until 3:30. We visited a neighboring town and got tacos for dinner. The mountains are breath taking, I love lounging in the back seat watching them pass by. Day one was a success I’d say! So far so good!
This December marked one year since a dear friend committed suicide. I put myself in the shoes of his family and couldn’t imagine their pain. To loose a son, a grandchild, a brother. I wished so badly there was something I could do to help. As I remissness about Phil, I realized that when something tragic like this happens it’s hard to be positive and remember who that person was. So over that past couple months I have interviewed all the friends closest to Phil and made a video focusing on him, the good humored, caring, understanding and wonderful person we all loved. Shining light on the situation, I’m giving the video to his best friend who will be giving it to the family on March 12, which would have been Phil’s 21st birthday.
At the end of the video it says “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” I hope his family realizes he was cherished by many, he really does live on in our fond memories.
